China is the largest digital economy in the world with more than 900 million internet users, and Chinese consumers are probably the most courted, both online and offline. Multinationals like L’oreal, Adidas and Volkswagen make more money in Asia than in America and Chinese consumer are increasingly setting the tone for the rest of the world.

The latest trends in digital marketing, branding and logistics are now found in China where the retail industry is several years ahead of the game. E-commerce is no longer about point and click.

All the large e-commerce platforms are fully integrated with popular social media, in a mix of digital payments, group deals, gaming, instant messaging, short-form videos and live-streaming. This optionality in the business model and a dedicated user centric approach truly inspiring.

We already start seeing some of these China trends emerging in the retail sector of the West, and many of the new features offered by Facebook are directly imported from China. This development has been accelerated during the pandemic where traditional retailers were forced to find new ways to engage with costumers.

But there is still a lot to learn from the vibrant Chinese market. Join us for this session where experts from JD.com will share insights about the unmanned tech advanced in drone delivery and automation in retail solutions. Ella works in International Communications at JD.com, China's largest retailer, online or offline. She previously spent several years in Brunswick’s New York and Beijing offices as a strategic communications advisor. Ella has significant experience in crisis & litigation, M&A and digital as well as U.S.-Asia cross border mandates. Some of her past projects have included corporate reputation and litigation support and helping several companies through listing on New York exchanges.

Rasmus Ehrenreich Bengtsen

Partner/digital lead, Leaf Digital

Rasmus is partner and digital lead on Chinese platforms at Leaf Digital and has a Master degree in Chinese. He has extensive experience with software development and SoMe operations in China. He also has hands on knowledge of running campaigns on Dianping, Baidu, WeChat, Weibo, etc. for Danish and Chinese companies, as well as Chinese movie star Jet Li. Rasmus is based in Shanghai.

Niels Christian Flintholm

Niels Christian is partner at Leaf Digital and has a master in Chinese. He has extensive experience in helping European brands succeed in the Chinese market, with a strong focus on market analysis, creation and execution of Chinese online retail strategies. He has helped brands across industries from multinational food enterprises like Atria over duty free retailer Gebr. Heinemann to Danish fashion icon Hummel. Niels Christian is based in Aarhus.

Line Heidenheim Juul

Director of operation, Shanghai Office

Line Heidenheim Juul is a sinologist and leader and has focused on China since 2007. Line has her daily work as Director of Operation for China Experience in China, with a permanent base in Shanghai. Line holds a Master of China studies, speaks Mandarin and has studied at the prestigious Qinghua and Zhejiang University in Beijing and Hangzhou. Line has previously written a thesis on social media and news in China.

In her recent role as “chief connector” she has focused on following the explosive development of Chinese tech companies as well as the success of Nordic and European businesses in the Middle Kingdom.

Peter lisbygd

CEO, China Experience

Peter Lisbygd is the founder of for China Experience and Nordic Experience. He held various management positions in Europe and China before establishing China Experience in Shanghai in 2005. 

Peter has the lead on the overall strategic development of the company, but he is also in the frontline, delivery valuable insight to our clients and partners. 

He is a knowledge broker and an often-used program leader and facilitator for Executive Learning and Business Deep Dive programs in China. Peter has a background as a Perry Officer at the Royal Danish Navy, and more than 10 years of management in the Nordic travel industry before venturing into China.
